Biobanking Infrastructure

The availability of high-quality biosamples is core to the mission of the Partners HealthCare Center for Personalized Genetic Medicine. To this end, the PCPGM IT team maintains a network of systems to collect, track, query for, and distribute samples to Partners investigators across the enterprise. This network of systems includes: 

• Enterprise Master Specimen Index - The Enterprise Master Specimen Index (EMSI) enables the identification and tracking of specimens as unique entities across the enterprise, regardless of their point of origin or storage.
• Consent Tracking System - This lightweight system enables the tracking of patient consent status.
• RPDR - The RPDR enables investigators to query for specimens based on a combination of specimen and patient criteria.
• Crimson - This tool enables the collection of discarded blood specimens.
